About me

My name is Naomi Veenema and I live in Leeuwarden. My great passion is racing – and everything that comes with it. My mind never stops, until I step into a kart. Then all thoughts fade. Not because I switch off, but because I am fully on: analysing, feeling, steering.

It started as a hobby – karting here and there every now and then. But while everything at school became increasingly blurry – mental exhaustion, a burnout – things became clearer and clearer for me on the kart track. I took part in my first race in Lelystad: against experienced boys and girls who had been karting competitively for years. Me? Just six months of hobby karting.
I finished sixth!

After that came the Women's Only Kart competition; in a field full of competitive drivers I won race 1 in a single evening and in race 2 I drove from last place to 2nd place. In the end I won the competition, a total of 9 races. That was the moment I knew: I want more of this! I got my own Tillotson T4 kart, drove a BMW on the TT Circuit in Assen – and since then everything has revolved around one goal: claiming my place in the motorsport world.

"In the kart, my mind goes quiet and a super focus emerges. Outside the kart, my mind never rests – inside it, I know exactly who I am."
